Life lessons and words of wisdom

I was reading "How the worst in life can become the best in life" read: http://tinyurl.com/5b4upl
by Katja Presnal, which got me started thinking about life lessons and words of wisdom. We have all had our parents or grandparents give us words of wisdom throughout our lives, usually when we were young and thought *yeah whatever*. Well as the years passed by and I became an adult with children of my own I realized just how much wisdom was truly in those words. I believe the minute you become a parent you start speaking in a foreign language known as *OMG I sound just like my Mother*, and all of those wisdom filled words come pouring out of your mouth without any forethought (there are also the sayings you use when they are in trouble, but thats another story.) So I used to tell myself I should write a book of all the sayings I so freely hand out to my children since they don't hear anything I say they will need it for future reference when they become parents. Now enough time has passed and instead of writing a book I can post a blog; I'm going to start a list of wisdom filled sayings and ask everyone to send me their very own wisdom filled comments.

1. Never say never
2. Everything happens for a reason
3. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth ( I still don't know what that means)
4. What comes around goes around (or vise versa, I'm not sure which)
5. If you lay down with dogs you get fleas
6.
Poo Poo happens : )
7. When life gives you lemons make lemonade (thanks Katja)

These are only a few of the many that I can think of at the moment.
